Took the excal for a ride to the shore last weekend to a beach that always gives up cool stuff and man o man i was hittin targets right and left.. about every 1 out of 4 signals were keepers on average.. i always find foreign coins on this beach and this day was no exception. .. found 24 foreign coins , 7 or 8 wheaties,2 indian heads,1 barber dime,an nyc transit token,1 small flat button, $5 in modern clad and lots of old bits and pieces of copper and lead rubbish... i hunted this beach a month ago and found 13 foreign coins at that time.. a few i found on this trip are duplicates of some i found last time... someone is seeding this beach with foreign coins but I believe the wheaties, indians and barber were lost way back when based on condition. didnt find any jewelry but had a blast.. coins are fresh out of the tumbler...

Nice looking bunch of finds Looks like you had fun. In four years I have found two wheat pennies, No silver but lots and lots of zinc pennies. My beaches are stingy.

I hear ya George, this beach is a fluke..it's the only beach ive ever dug indians or a barber..i hunted this exact same sand a month ok and did pretty good then too.. it's just a very productive piece of sand...

Good Hunting and might be the kind of beach you find some High K Gold!

Fantastic find, I love finding old coins!!!!! It would be hard to stay away from a honey hole like that!!!! Hit 'er hard!!!

Nice to see the finds. Most beaches use those trash truck sized beach sweepers to clean them and take all the goodies. Nice to see a virgin haul-John

Thanks for comments guys.. i would go there more often but it's a 2hr drive one way.. lining up low tide and free time is the main obstacle.. beechnut,it did cross my mind once i got into the area where the indians and barber came out that the chances of scoring some vintage gold were improving but,no dice and while the beach was relatively aluminum free there was plenty bits and pieces of copper and lead which gave mid and low tones...

Seeing those coins, I'm thinking maybe that area of the beach either had an amusement park and/or maybe a pier or a hotel at one time in the past? Doing some research and digging up old photo's of that stretch of beach may reveal that was a spot that attracted tourists but the ravages of the storms may have taken away all the remnants/timber etc; that once was there? Maybe in the 1800's?
