Coinmaster 6000D GEB

Wooden Nickel

New member
Just bought a Coinmaster 6000D, GEB, for $15.00. Great condition. In the original box with the s/n written on it.

I assume it was a good buy. I put batteries in it and it makes a noise. The pots are a bit noisy, but that can be fixed easily, I hope. I didn't have time to fiddle with it more than that today.

I'm guessing it was made in the early to mid 80s. Haven't had time to look it up.

I'm collecting mds for my grand kids to use, so I hope this one will be easy for them to use (young teens). How did this one stack up in it's day?

My problem is that I have a new Tejon being delivered tomorrow, so I'll have two machines to learn!

Good buy?

Thanks.

It wasn't a good buy it was a gift, very good and versitile machine. A bit heavy for a kid(I fabracated an elbow rest on mine-made it much better to swing). Also has a lot of knobs to use--might confuse a kid.

Agree with Ralph - the 6000D is worth any $300-$400 detector sold today. I have a DFX and a 6000D - the 6000D's performance is amazingly close to the DFX in detection capability - just without all the eye candy on the display.

Hint - I've also found that, the faster you swing the 6000D, the deeper it will detect. It IS probably a little too heavy for a youngster to swing for long, but they could still have a great time using it!
