Coin value?

New member
Just starting out metal detecting and I am wondering where would I find out how much older coins would be worth?

I'd grab a Whitman red book. Great books with TONS of info on all us coins ever produced. Also has mint info and amounts made. My go to field site is Cointracker.com. Really good site to go to. Say you dig up a buffalo nickel, that site will give a average price in rough condition to mint. Along with special info on errors for any certain year.

Hey! Welcome to the Forum...What Flanagan said..Cointrackers...you can pretty much just use the Googly masheen, enter the coin and date and any mint marks in the search engine..ie, '1943 copper wheat penny value'?....then hit enter....Cointrackers comes up and some others...for gold and silver jewelry, I use 'goldcalc'...for the most up to date weight values and simplicity of getting a value..What have you found?.
Mud.

I use this, http://cointrackers.com/ but keep in mind anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Just because the book says it is valued at a certain price doesn't mean that is what you can sell it for on the local market. These are more of a reference guide than an actual price you can expect to get from Johnny down at your local coin shop.
