If it is to the right of the date it is the designers initial.

There are no "M" mint marks. Could be the designer's initial. If there is no other mark it would be a Philadelphia mint.

Mint mark is slightly above and to the left of the date. Buy a Red Book!

2009 Red Book Values. Keep in mind silver value is almost $3.50.

1929 $3.50 Good $7.00 Fine
1929D $5.00 Good $10.00 Fine
1929S $3.50 Good $7.00 Fine

It's a common date.
