Coin$trike Tot Lot Pillaging :detecting:

There's a tot lot close to where I work I've been eying for a while. Given the demographics of the community around it, it would seem to be ripe for the possibility of gold jewelry so I decided to give it a whirl with the C$ and the small coil for an hour or so after work.

I didn't find anything to be proud of, but I'm always amazed that the C$ can pickup 7"+ deep tiny targets. The C$ is remarkably sensitive to small targets, and the small coil goes deep. I was digging all + targets in the hopes of landing jewelery. Unfortunately fame and fortune weren't in the cards, but I did find my first purse :yikes:, a fancy "diamond" studded "P" and my first United Arab Emirates coin, being a seven-sided 50 Fils showing oil derricks (what else?).

OK, I didn't exactly strike it rich, but it was a good warm up for the weekend.

I also noticed from Mike Beardens write up on the omega...sounds like the coinstrike threshold settings were used on that machine..Interesting !

I've gotten some crazy depth out of the C$ in the past, it loves round things, even if their tiny. Last night I was even digging small pieces of gum foil at 6" deep, so it would seem if there was a small gold chain hiding it would have picked it up.

I've debated selling the C$ so many times it's not funny, but it's still here. I really need to reduce my MD stable, I'm turning into a metal detector collector, that wasn't part of the plan

I know what you you mean by becoming a detector collector. The one thing I did wrong, going from ten down to two, was to sell my C$ and opt for the F-70 as my primary detector. Don't get me wrong the F-70 is a fine detector but the C$ for my style of hunting is the BEST! I will be trading for another one really soon and will practice the art of "metal detector collections" on my secondary detector. Don't sell it Cal, you will regret it!
