Coin$trike in Trash:ukflag:

onpoint

New member
Hello all,
I am still quite new to the Coin$trike and am having trouble seeing those coins in the trashy sites,
Can anyone give me a few tips on how the coins react when swiped as I am more than likely missing a whole lot of goodies down to my inexperience with the machine.
Thanks Clinton.

For trashy areas you really need the 6" coil, or else the 8" coil seems to much. You can try to slow your sweep speed way down and that'll help, but ultimately the answer is the 6" coil, it's surgical in trash.

Clinton are you finding any oldies on your side of the pond ? I've been waiting to see your posts of ancient Roman and midevil silver and gold.

Hi Cal thanks for the tip I'll give a 6" coil ago when I get a spare few pounds.
Hope thing are good for you over there, any luck yourself ?
I have just had a nice little Roman coin not to sure what yet as I'm still in the process of cleaning it. As soon as it's done I'll let you have a gander at it.
I have also had sum success with my C$ and the cheat sheet has come in handy as I have a brain like a sieve. Thanks !

when you get in those areas high in trash you can raise your coil a few inches and this will make the 8 inch coil act like a smaller coil!

Hey a Roman coin is a good find, keep working that area. No chance of finding anything like that around here. I've been going out every weekend, I'm starting to find silver coins, and am learning my machine better. My main beef with the C$ is I don't seem to get the depth others claim, and I believe it's because the ground out here is too mineralized.

If you print that cheat sheet make sure to reduce the margins in the print setup to 0.2" (that's inches), and make sure the font doesn't change to something else (it's Lucida Console, 10pt) or else when you print it, it'll be all garbled up. It's made so you can fold it into quarters and stick it in your back pocket.

I am getting quite good depth hear Cal 7" is the best so far and there's no mineralization in England either, so I can crank the C$ up, sen 8 thres 0 in places.
I came across a 1822 Farthing today in good condition. ( Please note not my coin in pic's ) I Cannot get good enough detail of my coin, I need to get myself a new digital camera as this iphone camera is cr#p, Funny the pic of the bell I also dug up today came out not to bad ! Looks fairly old to me ? I haven't had a chance to try and find out what type of animal it may of fell off, A Goat may be ? Any idea's Cal ?
I have learned loads from this forum but still feel there is so much more, can't complain thou think of all that exercise we are getting with the hours we put in ! and not forgetting the finds of course.

Clinton.

I've used the C$ for a few seasons, and have found hundreds of coins. I think any ID machine follows the same rule... if the ID "locks on" and doesn't change but one or two numbers from multiple directions, you're gonna dig a round metallic object, and most times it will be a coin. Coins on edge will not follow this rule, so you'll be passing up some keepers. I don't think coins keep the same orientation in the ground over the years, so that's another reason why places are rarely hunted out... coins on edge may make their way flat again and ring out loud and clear. I always walk around any possible good signals...a full 360, as I wiggle the coil to narrow down the spot with my eyes glued to the ID. You should pay attention to your swinging technique, for not keeping the object centered will make the numbers jump around or pick up nearby items.

Hope that helps!
