Coin Spill With Big Silver

Well-known member
[size=medium]I got off work a little early and went back to a place I had found a few keepers. The first hour didn't produce much but some can slaw and a neat old white button. I went to a section of the front yard that I had not searched, and got a shallow signal on the Etrac that bounced around from 5-47, 7-47, 1-44. 7-47. I was expecting another big piece of soda can when I popped my plug, but was pleasantly surprised to see a silver Washington. I walked to my truck to get the camera and wondered why I got such funny numbers. I took a picture and thought to check the hole with my pinpointer and got another signal. I moved a little bit of dirt and saw that awesome rim of big silver! I could see there was a coin that had been sitting on the half and found the nickel last. I didn't have much time after that and had to get home. My kids shared the excitement as I told them my treasure tale when they got home from school. There was a big black stain on the front, but I spent a few minutes and it cleaned off. I left the stain from the nickel because it makes for a good story. HH David

Congrats on the pocket shot. Nice Franklin Half, you don't see that many of them (not nearly as many as walkers) being found. I've only found one in all of my 32 years metal detecting.

Real nice finds Dave !
One of the best things about our hobby ... the thrill of seeing big Silver come out of the ground !

Very nice dig, and must have felt good to have found it.

Great story Dave! Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on a fine spill!

Nice job on the franklin!
Two years ago I got 2 of them within a week, none before and none since.
Had no idea they are so scarce to find.
Great job!

Thanks for sharing

Sooper Dave, very nice bunch of finds. Seeing those larger silver coins in the hole really gets the blood pumping.....Congrats...Without seeing the back, the "button" may actually be the decorative screw on cap for a Victorian picture nail. Made to hang pictures on, these decorative nails were 2" or so long, and had a threaded end for the cap to screw on.......

What a great pocket spill!!

Nice Spill:bouncy: WTG!!!

Awesome hunt... that's what I love to see, Big Silver, and a coin spill, Congrats!
