What I'm going to say here is from my experience only, I'm not trying to tell you how to md or what settings. I started out mding with a qd2 and I thought I had gotten pretty good with it. I was finding a few Nichols but not as many as I thought I should be. My sens./on off switch went out on the qd2 so I sent it back to Texas for repair. Not wanting to wait for it to return I bought me a t4 for back up. Well listening to the fine people here on the forum that uses the t4 thats how I started out with my settings. Now anybody that owns one knows it has only 2 tones and no target ID. Well I started finding 2 and 3 times the Nichols as I did with the qd2, I'm not trying to say its a better machine, but I find I can pin point faster and better with it. To make a long story short you don't have a target ID, you have only the 2 tones to rely on. True I do dig more pull tabs but I'm finding Nichols and some old ones too. I do disc. out the medal/iron when coin shooting. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want to find it you have to dig it and quit looking at the target ID, the machines just aren't that smart yet to be 100% right(this is what the experenced users have been saying over and over). PS I have had days when I have found more Nichols than quarters just depends on where I'm huntn. hh
