"Coin" rings found over the past 30 years.

How about this. Finding five rings made out of silver coins over the past 30 years with a detector. Three were from old shallow water beaches. I hope you can see some of the print on the inside of the rings. Dave.

I have made over 300 coin rings, and have sold a bunch all over the world. I wonder if by chance you found one of mine? The fact that you have found 5 is simply amazing. :)

I believe that the ones that I found were made by tapping the outside edge of the coin with a piece of steel or as I have read that the GI's of WWII used to use a spoon to do the job. As the coin's edge got wider and the diameter smaller to approximately ring finger size, the center of the coin was drilled or cut out showing some of the coins engraving ie. "Half Dollar" on the inside diameter of the ring. I believe you can read such words in the largest ring that I posted. Thanks for the comments. Have a great holiday and HH. Dave.

Hi John. I've seen some of the type of rings that you make. The five that I found were made by tapping the outside edge of the coin with a piece of steel or more commonly, GI's used a spoon from their mess kit until the size is just right and then cutting out the center. It was a very long and tedious endeavor. A man from Connecticut has been advertising the type that you make.
He can ship a custom order coin three days after he receives the order, providing he has the right coin in stock. Looks like you do very good work John. Take care and HH. Dave in Penna.

Yes, you are correct. The double sided ones are much easier to make, so I have made many more of those. Here's the article I wrote some years back: (you will have to type it, as the forum won't link to it)
