Coin pouch/apron?

New member
I've been using variations of the old two-pocket hardware store coin apron for so many years, I'm wondering what new things people are using now?

I think I've decided on the AT Pro as my next detector - Living in Florida there are endless possibilities for water hunting so it will be new for me. I could see how the old reliable apron won't cut it for water hunting as stuff can fall out so easily, so I'm wonder what you folks are using and what works great for you?

Thanks in advance,

- Muddyshoes.

Hiya Muddy I tried several variations of collection pouchs...fanny pack, various canvas pouches of various sizes, etc. Finally ran across a tool belt at Wal Mart that had three removalbe tool pouches. Took two of them off and the third has been working fine for several months now. It's very durable and has several small places for tools etc, which work fine for carrying two little medicine bottles of water for cleaning, my Buck knife and whatever....What I wan to find to try is one of those canvas vests that fishermen and hunters wear that has about 20 little pockets on it. Just gotta get to a sporting goods store and price them. Looks to me like they would work really nice with all those pockets. Good luck with whatevr you decide on and happy hunting.

Got mine from an online treasure store called Treasure house, dont know if they are still in business or not It has 3 vertical pockets as well as horizontel ones with a nice screen mess pocket for finds cost was $16 bucks and made of heavy nylon for the water, love mine but only used it for beach duty so far. thanks Wayne

I have tried different things with varying results. I like the leather carpenters pouch with pockets for finds, trash, digging probes and a nice loop for my Leche digging tool. Biggest problem I have had with it is getting a belt so it will stay up. It seems like I am forever pulling the thing back up. I think I have that solved with a stretch belt that is over an inch wide. Seems to work OK but will have to try in on a few hunts.

I also have tried a carpenters vest which has pockets galore and all sorts of places to keep things. I riveted one of the chest pockets down the middle so the Propointer stands up in one half and my screw driver probe in the other. Neat arrangement. There are three things I do not like about the vest. First, the pockets are a real pain to empty of dirt that always gets mixed in with the finds and trash. Second, I carry the digging tool in the hammer loop which is way at the side and is almost impossible to see when returning the tool to the loop. Third, you have to be real careful on how you fold it when you take it off because it is real easy to get tangled up and takes a while to sort it all out when you are trying to put it on. Even with those three dislikes, the vest works very well in all other respects. The one I have is a dark blue and I am looking to replace it with a lighter color and put a bunch on patches on it. Just have not found one that I like yet.

Hmm. what do you guys think about this? It's kind of pricey, but I like that it seems to be made of a sturdy, waterproof material. I could even put portuguese man of war in there if I wanted to!

I don't know about the size. Seems bulky, but I like being able to securely zip the smaller pocket closed for those really good finds.
