Coin Hunting with the MXT.....

I coin hunt very little but when I do, I have found this effective..... (XL Pro in newer sites
or trashy sites...) Set the machine to the relic mod, sens. wide open if possible, disc. at
zero.....and watch the meter.... The MXT ID's correctly when the audio tracks the disc. down..... In the relic mod, the mixed-audio and processing speed of the detector allow you to discern targets that are very close, depth is gained as disc. is reduced, and setting the
sens. to +2 or 3 enhances the audio, allowing you to hear targets that could be normally missed.... Targets that are deep and the ID jumps from + to -, dig it.... at this depth, the
ID'ing capability of the MXT is better than the audio ID..... Listen for a low pitch with a
high pitch scratch... dig 'em.... This is at the detector's limit to correctly process incoming info... Best to all, Richardntn

Point well taken Richard! That's exactly what I've learned to do with my MXT with the only exception of adding a 12" Hotshot for maximum depth for the deep relics. ;)

I'm a brand new user. Will this work for rings and stuff as well so you'll be covering everything from coins to jewelry? What position do you have the trigger in?

It will work well if the area your hunting isn't too trashy.... Center position on the trigger...
On old home, you can put your disc. one knotch below a nickel and you should do well.
One thing to remember is that the more targets you dig, the more valuable targets you will get.... because of a number of factors, good targets don't always read as they should...
Happy hunting, Richardntn
