Coin Hunting Question

Hi all,
I am thinking about purchasing a T2 over a Minelab Quattro. I was curious how the T-2 does for coin hunting since thats my main objective with the occasional relic hunting.

Thank you!

Hello,

I use the t2 for coin hunting and for me in my area it works well. I have found that you should set it up a little different for coins than if you were hunting for relics. at least thats what works for me. it took a little experimenting to see what I thought worked best. and tell you the truth I'm still learning with it. but if set up right, it is good on coins.

Agile,

I think the T2 is great on coins, especially when you look at all the modes it has (you can switch between the modes quickly while on a target to get more information about a target). The pinpoint feature is superb and you can size the target with that, along with get a quick depth reading. It is great on coins in trash with the big stock coil, I can only imagine how it will be once they get a small coil for it!

This is a new breed of detector. It is awfully fast. You need to see it operate to appreciate it. I pulled 4 old coins yesterday, a few of which the signal went by really quick (mixed in with other lower signals, or aluminum trash) by just investigating. I will try the 2 tone mode next due to the large amount of iron, but like the db and 3b mode on coins.

In good ground without too much going on you can crank up the power and go very deep. Read up some of the older posts as this unit has allot to offer you. Good luck.

ps - I use this detector as my primary coin machine.

I have used about 7 or 8 differant detectors in the last 27 yrs and
I can say that it is the best detector that I have ever used.
And a friend of mine has a minelab Q. and it really runs C. around
the Q. Just go try one ( T-2) and you will see what i mean.

Thank you guys. I am really leaning towards one at this point. I will have to get my hands on one and try it out and see how it feels. I have been reading alot of goods things about the T2 to simply not give it a try.

I've never used a Quattro.

But, I have found more, older and deeper coins with my T2 than with the Fisher and Tesoro detectors that I also own. I could see this the first time I used the T2.

The T2 is more susceptible to interference though so it may be somewhat annoying when used on some sites due to the chatter. But, even when this is happening it's still deeper than my other machines.

It does great.

In my area there is heavy mineralization, with lots of iron junk. The T2 is able to sniff out coins from the junk as well as anything I've owned if not better. It has excellent depth, is easy to use, and can get the goodies that some other machines will mask if you set it up right. Fortunately setting it up is as easy as it gets it's turn on, adjust a few things, do your ground and go.

So it can do coins or relics equally well.
