As I'd mentioned earlier I'm an old time coin shooter that has just recently returned to the hobby after a 15 year hiatus. I try and go for the old coin but have had a heck of a time this last 3-4 weeks with only 1 merc. I've dug about 8-10 wheaties and threw them into my little treasure box and decided to dig them out and put them in my "wheatie" can but wasn't sure where the "wheatie can" was so I scoured the house with no luck. Finally came acrossed the "wheatie can" stuffed inside a coffee can. To my surprise, I'd forgot about all the memorials in the can and had thought I'd got those back in circulation a long time ago? So now I found my "wheatie can" inside the memorial can.....
So now I go into my treasure chest to find the wheaties and have to pull all the jewelry, toys, knives, buttons, and general crap we all end up with off the top. It was nice to stumble onto 3 gold rings I'd forgot about and just had a good time reliving the days when I'd found half the stuff. By the time I'd got all the stuff off the top to find the wheaties I'd recently tossed in, I noticed other coins loose in the treasure chest. Anyways....I've had a tuff go of it as far as silver goes since I've returned to detecting and stumbling onto this silver and the indian heads that I hadn't put away yrs ago has helped heal the frustration I've been having since I started back up. Just looking at all the coins reminded me how much stuff I've dug and how much more there is to dig. Kinda gave me some of that spark back! I'll get the shiny stuff.....just can't say when. Been knocking on doors of older homes lately with no luck.....YET!
