Coin Flood Revisited

Felt like pulling some change outta the dirt today, so hit the creek bank (pun intended). Pulled 90 coins in about 2 1/2 hours, just one lonesome 1956-D Wheatie in the mix. Some early 60s pennies, not sure of most of the dates until I get a tumbler  Pretty sure there's no silver, though. Total of 90 coins = $5.79

Little Blackie got tired of picking up clad, wanted to go play in the creek. So down we went, just got started down there when she went nutso - I thought I'd worked her to death. Checked connections, batteries at 3 bars, factory reset, etc., etc., no change. Then I checked the bottom of the coil, and theres a chunk of epoxy missing.
We were in the rocky creek, but I didn't remember a hard knock at all....sigh. So, I'll give Garrett a call in the a.m. and get it figured out. I'm already in the pre-withdrawal stages. Arrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

Keep hitting that creek bank, if you found a wheat, there's bound to be a piece of silver there somewhere. Persistence pays off in my book :) Least you got a bunch of loot, free batteries! :) HH!

Well, that's a drag!! You musta knocked out a big chunk. Enough to expose the windings?? I've knocked out chunks on my Garrett coils before, like dime sized, with no ill effects, but the wiring wasn't exposed either. Hope you get a new coil soon and back to having fun. You mght look into getting that sweet 5 x 8 coil too so you'll have a backup coil if it happens again. BTW, nice digs, must be a lot of folks lounging around down there.

Thanks, BCD
It's about a quarter sized chunk, I don't see any windings, just what looks like a second layer of epoxy. There must be a crack, though, as it went wild when dunked. As expected, it's working fine this morning.

Myra at Garrett took good care of me - she's sending out a new coil today along with a call tag for the bad coil. Excellent customer service from Garrett as always.
So, I can still get my fix as long as I stay out of the water! Yessss!!

I sooooo want a 5x8, but doing medical stuff this month, and they like money, so have to wait a little while.

Hmmmm....A doctor that wants more of your money...what a novel concept. My doctors want ALL of my money!! At least Garrett is sending you a new coil and you should be able to go again by the weekend!! Their service is top-notch, none better in the industry. Try and save up a few sheckles and snatch up that 5 x 8, sweet little coil for snooping around the rocks and such in that creek.

Weekend...I don't need no stinking weekend!! I was back out today vacuuming up Penny Park, which unfortunately lived up to it's name today :surrender:
