COIN DETECTOR

Looking for some input on good detectors for coin shooting, not surface finds but deep old coin. Like target I.D machine's with multi-tone. I have a ATpro with stock coil, X-terra 70 with stock coil, 6'' H.F coil and 15'' L.F coil. Thanks Tom

E-trac, 3030, f-75ltd, cz's, explorer's, AT's, the list can be long. You can't easily pin one down unless you try one, or several, in your neck of the woods. Seems like you know what you like, and don't like, in a unit, maybe start from there.
I use a 1021 cz3d for field work with little to no trash, for old coins, and the older f-75 for around high nail/iron spots. 98% of the time I'm after the old coins....if a ring or other jewelry turns up, it's usually antique, and that's a big plus.
There is a fellow you may of heard of him on the forums, named Keith Southern, says the Minelab 3030 is the best all around unit out there, and I believe him,...good and honest man, I think he's in Georgia.

My suggestion would be the Whites M6. Its very simple but powerful! It is designed for coins and jewelry. Im not knocking any other detector because I have had many. One of my favorites was the Fisher CZ3d and is a good detector however it loves iron. My M6 gets plenty of depth and has an arsenal of different coils. My favorite is the 4x6 shooter coil. To each their own as they say but the M6 is the bomb for coins.

The hands-down winner of the deep turf coin-shooting (where TID's at-depth are essential, to decide what to dig, vs what-to-pass) : The Explorers. Oh sure, there are deeper machines (if you want to resort to throwing any semblence of TID out the window), or machines better at coins-next-to-trash (if you want to for-go some depth and TID), but for the power-house that it is, they have the best TID at depth. And that, afterall, is what makes for a good coin-machine (where a little cherry-picking is sometimes in order). Other machines might be said to be better "relic" machines, or better "jewelry" machines, but for coins (high conductors at depth) the explorer is hands-down the winner. Any of the various incarnations of it, but my favorite is the Explorer II. Seemed to have the sweetest tones. All that came after it is just whistles and bells, no real appreciable depth or TID added (although the debate goes on for those that move-up to the successors, haha)

Did have a Explorer 2 for a while, weight was a little issue but wasn't crazy about the tones. Do most like the EX2 over the SE? Tom

I never personally had the SE to compare to. But have run around extensively with guys who came up "through the ranks" of every single incarnation. And most of them have all agreed that the Exp. II just had the sweetest tones.
