Coin Dealer shop

Hi,
I went to a coin dealer shop today to get those square coin holders. I explained that I was metal detecting and had found several silver coins.
He replied to me that all silver coins that come out of the ground are garbage, tarnished, worthless. I replied that most of the silver coins I have seen
that come out of the ground are almost in perfect condition. Silver. Bright silver. No tarnish. He again said I was wrong.
He had a huge collection of silver coins for sale. Most of his were, as I could tell, from normal circulation. They were in worse condition that what
I had ever dug up.
Go figure.

When I used to coyote hunt,I'd take my pelts to a dealer.Wouldnt you know it,all my furs had fleas, mange and rub spots also.

sounds like a "know it all" I would not spend a penny in his shop. I buy all my coin supplies here, much cheaper, quick shipping

here are the coin flips you want, bundle of 100 is $1.95, so 2 cents each

That guy wants your coins at a rock bottom price. Ground or Grandpa's sock drawer it all depends on their condition.

I work in a coin shop and ground recovery doesn't mean "Always Bad"! (What an idiot and don't do business with him.) Granted...when you buy coins you have to look for problems. Scratches, edge dings, pitting, and polishing are all negatives but silver coin do come out of the ground mostly nice (If the person finding them doesn't finger scrub for a date check and misses it with the digger.) Plus...silver turns back to "original" if handled correctly. Copper is way more problematic but to call it worthless is also a lie.Early, nice ground recovery copper coins get gobbled up if the detail is there and the pitting is fine textured and uniform. (Less money of course but it can be way substantial.) There's got to be a better shop around you than that one too.

Yeah hes full of crap, a few years back I found a 16 D merc, which was tarnished, (envrinmentally damaged) it had EF details, and I got 3 Grand for it, not to back for a junk coin out of the ground LOL
