Hi All need some help sure this is been on the forum before but need to know what everyone is using to clean there coins. I don't find that many so I don't really need a large expensive one but just something to clean the coins I do find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob from Tellico
The Lortone model 3A is the gold-standard single barrel tumbler. I believe they run about $75-80 new. Harbor freight also has a similar, more economical tumbler that has been given good reviews on the forum. Personally, I use a vibratory brass tumbler from my bullet reloading equipment but I plan to pick up a Lortone as soon as finances permit.
Yes - Harbour Freight has a pretty inexpensive coin tumbler for around $33 dollars. IMHO, it is not as good as the Lortone but it works well for me and I've had no problems with it thus far. Just can't beat it for the price. JHMO.

I'll have to second that I also use the harbor freight single tumbler have used it to clean several drums and have not had any problems at all out of it.
Several extra bands came in the box with it but so far I'm still on the original one hasn't broke any yet.
I picked up a used Lortone model 3A for $30.00 about two months ago (it wasn't in the best of shape), but it's been running ever since! I took Larry's advise with the Lortone, and his cleaning solution, and haven't looked back since. I have two years of stored clad to clean; over $700.00, and I'm only a 1/3 of the way through it, and it's spinning almost every evening - Just like the EverReady bunny!!!! A super tumbler, at a great price.
I got the 5 pound vibrator tumbler for a Christmas present from Harbor Freight and a 25 pound bag of walnut ground up. I have been running it to clean up the clad and gave the old pennies a 2.5 hour shake. They came out great. I wanted the rotary tumbler, but am glad I got this one, no belts and easy to use. Pennies came out clean enough to take to the bank. Happy cleaning ... Marty
Hi Brian and welcome to the forum. Larry uses a bit of sand in his tumbler along with a drop of Dawn dish soap. They look great after being cleaned. HH, Nancy
I use the 33 dollar one from Harbor freight tool co. also and it has been working great for me so far and it cleans the coins really well . I use the smaller fish gravel and a squirt of dawn dish soap in it . I do soak my coins overnight in white vinegar before I tumble them .
My son is a rock hunter . He has used harbor freight 4 about 5 years BEWARE they eat rubber pully bands . we solved the problem by buying a vacuum cleaner pully band not problems after that.
