HI, NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND OUT BEST WAY TO CLEAN BEACH COINS. JUST GOT A TRU SQUARE 3LB TUMBLER AND NEED ADVICE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. JEFF

Keep the pennies separate from everything else. For pennies we filled the thing 1/2 full of sand. Throw enough pennies in to fill it about 3/4 full. Then we 1/4 cup vinegar, and a tablespoon of salt. Dump that in, then put water in until the level is just over the pennies. Then tumble for about 3 hours.

For nickels, dimes, and quarters. Fill 1/2 full with sand, then put coins in to 3/4. Pour some degreaser/soap in, then put water in till just over coins. Tumble for 3 hours.

If you find it needs longer after your first batch, tumble a little longer, or experiment with amount of soap or water. We tumbled some stuff to long before, pennies get eaten up alot.

You can do the vinegar and salt thing with dimes, nickels, and quarters, just as with pennies, but we found that dimes, nickels, and quarters normally are'nt as dirty, and wont need as hard cleaning.

We put the jewelry into an ultrasonic water cleaner thing though.

For keys, knives, buttons, bullets, or any other finds. If they're really dirty, do what you do with the pennies. If it is cleaner, or you dont want to mess it up as much, do what you would with the nickes, dimes, and quarters.

Just to see the difference, get a small bowl, and put about 1/4 inch of vinegar, and some salt, mix, then drop some pennies in. You should see the pennies clean up some in seconds.

For heavily encrusted items, do electrolysis first then do tumbling. For electrolysis youll need. 2 wires or alligator clips, 1 stainless steel washer, 1 cup or glass, some water, some salt, some sort of battery (a 3 volt battery pack is good, a 9 volt works better, but gets hot rather quickly) and the object to be cleaned. First put the wires on the battery. Remember, electricity flows from negative to positive, so connect the stainless steel washer to the positive wire, and the object thats going to be cleaned, to the negative. Fill the glass or cup near the top, and put about 1-2 tablespoons of salt, mix it up well. Then place the washer in on one side, and the object in on the other. Sorta like this. Hope this helps!!! If you have any questions, just let me know. Good luck, HH.
