Coin Beach Delaware

Has anyone on this forum hunted this area?

I went there years ago and found one of the copper coins but if I didnt know what this place was known for I wouldnt have known it was a penny. It was unreadable, in very bad shape. I also found a SL quarter and a ring at the time. It was after a hurricane. It was pretty far out to sea but did bring in some heavy surf at the time.

Does this site still turn up old stuff when the surf is right? Do any of these coppers come out of the salt water in good shape? Im not much of a water hunter, spend most of my time on land in Civil War sites.

Where is Coin Beach in Delaware? I've see the post many times about this beach, but have no idea of it's location.

At Indian River Inlet

See the link I put it my post.

There is a picture of it there too. Large parking lot right there at the Inlet.

Hello Bob -
I've searched coin beach many times. I never found anything to brag about, but from what I'm told, it has lots of potential. I heard about it from the owner(?) of a place called Sea Shell City in Fenwick Island. Stop in there sometime. On the first floor it is basically a touristy souvenir shop. The 2nd floor is a treasure seekers dream come true!. It is a museum of many articles found on coin beach from numerous shipwrecks. And it's not just coins! The guy I talked to told me where to look, and I could spend days out there! It is a very deserted expanse of beach, and I'm told that after a nasty storm, your chances of finding something are very good. I only get there about once a year. Be prepared to walk, as you can park your car on the west side of the highway in a parking lot, and walk under the bridge at the Indian River Inlet to get to the beach. BTW, the inlet is a man-made cut, so If it is old stuff you are looking for, just keep walking North on the beach. Good luck! -JHinPA
