Coin beach Delaware bust

This is my first post in over a year.At the tender age of 63,My wife and I have made up our minds to move to Delaware to get away from the high taxes of Maryland.Excellent move!!!! Real estate tax as well as car insurance and home owners cut in half! Not to mention no sales tax of any kind on anything purchased. Also I am only 40 minutes away from Coin beach where in early 1700s a ship carrying casks of copper, silver and gold coins sank in a nor-easter. I researched the site on line, and pinpointed the wreck.I did a search in every trough for 2.5 miles running from north to south.I got one very strong signal at 7 inches with my Ace 250,Which turned out to be one of many shoe buckles the ship was also carrying.Well good exercise and a fun day at the beach! I guess I did get a great reward moving to Delaware,My wife and I both love it here,People are a lot more friendly and will help you in a minute. We are only 15 minutes from 12 local bay and ocean beaches. We live close to the old town of Milford in the heart of Delaware farm country. And yes there is a Milford metal detecting club,But like any where else they do not give information of any good spots, thats fine I have found more than I could have imagine at my age ,Thanks to all,Wayne

Takes a lot of gusto to relocate at that age and enjoy...Just like your favorite fishing hole they are hard to find and a smart dude won't tell anyone...same goes for beach areas which are at best hard hit..Wait for a storm and hunt the cuts and your luck just might change relative one of those old coins..

Good luck...hope you find some old coins on those beaches !!!

Sounds like you are going to be busy a long time with all the bays and beaches. HH to both of you.
Real treasure is where the heart is and if some of the treasure from the wreck you researched comes to shore, I hope you find it.

Wayne, welcome to Delaware. I've lived here all my life and live only a couple miles from the IR Inlet. A guy I know found 6 of those coins last year with his Excal. One was on the surface, the others were about 3". They're still out there. Wait for a good storm to move thru. Try to hit it at low tide. Of course you really need a water detector that will handle the wet sand. I'll be hitting it hard this year with my Excal. I do the drive on with the van in my avatar. If you see me out there stop and say hi. Click on my name, my email is there in my info. Drop me a line maybe we can get together.
