This is how I did this year a couple weeks after Sandy. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTX6npG1S0s

Good Job SM, I like the 4 stuck together..that was a great find.....and all were in good condition considering most come out of there with no detail. Enjoyed the vid, thanks for Sharing....joe

Yeah worthy, some British coins. Mostly Irish. The ship was carrying a mess of them. 400 barrels of coins. They've been washing up on that beach for years. In the 20s or 30s the beach was covered with them. People were filling buckets. They're hard to come by now, has to be a storm to get them moving. This summer should be interesting.

Wow these are great coins.

Hope that you find some more, and perhaps one of the gold or silver ones.

Andre

Nice job. On my bucket list for years. Was actually there twice when the stumps were showing with no MD.

Thanks guys, it was a blast being out there. The most fun was the first night we were out there. We both found a few right on top. I picked one up right out of the surf, washed up right in front of me. I can only wonder what those people think when they see our headlamps out on the beach when they're coming over the bridge. You can see those lights a good ways off. I got a hat from Lowes that has 4 led lights in the brim and my headlamp is pretty powerful. The hat is awesome and the batteries are replaceable. We have alot of fun out there, even in the cold. We need a good nor'easter to blow thru, get those coins moving again. I'll be taking the camera with me from now on. Come on summer!

surfman , Nice video and nice coins from the shipwreck. I can personally attest to the fact that they are a hard to find and that beach is hunted to death. I was just down there and met surfman and his friend they are good guys and definately take there metal detecting seriously and hunt hard, I been there approx. 15 times and finally got lucky and found two and it was probably luck cause i am a farm field hunter and do not know squat about beach hunting and its a whole other type of detecting. Good Luck And I hope you find more . Ezra.

Thanks Don, it was a pleasure to meet you. We didn't have any luck that night. I did find a big piece of copper hull sheathing about 4" long. Always cool finding something related to the ship. We'll be back out there tomorrow night for the low tide. We hope to see you out there again. Maybe this summer you can make it back down. Take care, Joe.

Those are the coins early America relied on in the beginning.I found one just like yours in the woods of the Charleston SC area. The Irish harp,1702.That is so cool!Hope you do find some more.WTG!

Nice finds and a great video. I've read the stories about the shipwreck and always wanted to go. Perhaps I'll see you out there sometime since I retired and have more time. Congratulations on your finds.

Gary

Thanks, if you ever get out there look for the van in my avatar and the guy swinging the Excal. Stop and say hi. Thanks, Joe.
