Coiltek digger what to expect ?

I never detected at the 3 kHz frequency and would like to try it out. I read some info on that coil and it seems to be good at finding coins in trash. I have a few places that are either bottle cap/pull tab or nail infested and I know that there is century old silver in there as well. How would this coil do in moderately to above average mineralized soil ? Users say they can easily pick out coins from trash with it but how does that differ from the 7.5 or 18 kHz range ? In other words, how does it make identifying high conductors easier ? Sound and or ID ? What about modern alloy clad vs silver ?

Any negatives apart from price ? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't use mine as often since I got the 10.5". When I got it I went to a lot that had been detected several times by others. I pulled well over 300 coins from there. It is a great coil to have in your arsenal if you can spare the money. Since they've been out for a while now you might be able to pick one up for about half the regular price.
The IDs are a little different, not much, but when you get a good target you know it. My biggest issue is you really need to go slow and overlap quite a bit. If you get a hit then swing back to find it you find that it isn't always so easy to refind because of the small search area.
Overall, great little coil.

I really like mine. But it ids some coins at different numbers. I use it a lot at sites I have already hunted and pulled a lot of coins at those spots.

I plan on putting the 6" digger coil in my collection next, I have areas that are pretty trashy but I know there is silver in the area also.

It's a good coil but I found the shift in IDs somewhat annoying. You also need to scan slower.

There really is a wealth of information in the FAQFAQ thread pinned at the top of the forum page.
