Coiltek 5x10 Impressions - Beat Up Silver!

Hi All,

I have been lurking and reading about all the great finds, but haven't been posting here recently - sorry! However, I thought I should make a post about the Coiltek 5x10 because when I was researching it I couldn't find a lot of thoughts on it.

Anyway, I ponied up the cash for it on Monday and spent a couple of hours on Tuesday rehunting a yard I beat to death last fall with the stock coil. I managed to squeak out a few more coins and a blazer button and a chunk of lead. The Wheaties are '57 and '18. I did find a badly damaged '46 quarter (silver is silver lol).

I like the coil. It found some of these targets at decent depth (6 or 7 inches). It handled the abundant iron well. I got fooled be a few rusty nails, but I had a good idea they were rusty nails. All of these coins were good strong signal except for one or two iffys. Makes me wonder how I missed them with the stock, but I guess anything is possible!

I have the 6" coil also, but think I prefer this one due to the better coverage. I will leave it on for a while.

Hope this helps anyone looking for info.

Take care,
DX

Great info DX! Thanks!.... was looking into buying one, after the Sabisch class I just took. He seems to like it a lot.
Have you had some more success since your last hunt? And how much did the coil set you back?

Thanks,

Zippy.

Did your coil mesh up with the holes of the shaft and were the holes the same size?
Does the end of the shaft rub against the top of the coil?
