Coiltek 15" WOT?

What is everyone's experience with these? I saw where they are on the heavy side but plan on working on balancing my machine to take are of that. Are they any better than the 10.5 DD? I am looking to cover more ground, get better sensitivity on smaller items and get a little better depth. Right now I just use the stock coil. Really not too thrilled that they have no outlet in the U.S. to fix coils after the warranty goes out but they do have a 2 year warranty so it makes me feel a bit better. If you have any input you can either post here or send me a message. Thanks!

I have the 15" WOT mf since it came out in 2011.
Its a big coil not to heavy, and I think well balanced. Very good on grass land or big Fields to cover area fast. Also I dug deep targets. Its a coil for not so trashy places.
Worth the money? Well yes :)

Thanks for the replies. With 497 views and 2 replies it doesn't look like there is much of a following of this coil.

I've been sitting back to see what input you got before saying much.
I've got two 15" All Terrain coils. One LF, and one HF.
The HF is relegated almost exclusively to beach hunting because it loves iron too much for the sites that I hunt. The LF is probably my #1 coil, and when it comes off the 6" Digger is usually taking it's place. The audio distinction between ferrous and non-ferrous is dramatic in my ground, and the depth is superior to anything else as well. I'll get an MF WOT someday, just for general purpose use, as I have sites where I believe that it would be advantageous.

I certainly second what Old Longhair says. I really like hunting with the LF coils and use the 15" LF Coiltek as my main coil. I switch over to the 6" LF Digger for places with a lot of trash, heavy undergrowth (a closed coil doesn't snag), tight spaces, too much RF interference, etc. I pretty much only use my 10x5" HF elliptical coil as a change of pace, or after I've already thoroughly hit an area; not a bad coil, but different.

A big coil often means small targets get overlooked, but with the Coiltek I find dimes all the time and even smaller targets like splitshot, .22 bullets, and tiny pieces of brass from disintegrated shotgun shells (an annoying amount sometimes.) And despite my Coiltek being the LF model, I'm not overly concerned about missing gold targets; it finds boatloads of lead, which should be right in the same range. The MF & HF should perform just as well, at a minimum.

The thing that takes getting used to is pinpointing with these big boys. Especially with tricky targets, you occasionally have to try different angles and methods to hone in on where the target is centered. With a smaller coil like the Digger, it's much more a breeze.

I'm seriously considering getting a 15" Coiltek, I just don't know which one to get. I wish there was a pros/cons table for each of the frequencies. Any of you care to tell me the pros/cons of each frequency?

I've been using WOT coils since the month they were on the shelves. Many years before the birth of the first XTerra range. And when I heard Trevor at Coiltek was working on one for the XTerra I literally thanked God.

My fav coil on early and current VLF's and XTerra's...

One rule I always apply to XTerra's is that the mid freq rules. While the high freq can hit on targets in air tests that you'd swear the mid or low freq should hit better on, in the ground it is slightly reversed back to the real world as to how we think they'd hit at depth and tone-off truer to how we thought they would in comparison to depth and target make-up. Longhairs example of the high freq ticking off through iron in comparison to the low freq is a great example of coil choice for a specific area.

But, all in all, the three frequencies are very very close in all aspects with only very slight differences (noticeable they are) in particular ground and target/tonal response .

You can't go wrong with all three. If it's specific hunting ie: deep silver or gold.....There is a tonal/bin placement pic floating around that Longhair or someone can post up regarding frequency choice and placement differences. It's pretty close to the mark and a good guide.

Sasquatch,
It all depends on what you are looking for. Coin and silver detectors are lower frequency. Relic and gold detectors are higher frequency. Medium frequency gets you in the middle.
