So, finally sprung for the Coiltek coil, got it a couple of days ago and took it for a trial run at my super trashy park I've been working on. Honestly, based on the hour and a half I played with it, I didn't see much difference between it and the 6" except that it covers more area. I'm going to give it a much more thorough working this weekend, I'm going to take it to one of my less trashy parks and to the beach.
Overall so far though, I'm really not noticing too much of a difference. I'm so used to pinpointing with my 6" that it's not necessarily easier to pinpoint and I have yet to see any added depth or better separation. However, one nice thing is that it covers more area, which I do like quite a bit. The solid construction of it and the weight take a little getting used to, but in the end I think they felt more balanced in a way? Like it gave the swing some extra oomph behind it?
As mentioned, I'll give a much more thorough response probably on Sunday evening. But for now, I don't see too much to get excited about or see the justification for the price. That's just the opinion of one detector, however
