Coils

Hello All,

I am a 71 year old man that has been out of metal detecting for about 10 years, and am seriously thinking about purchasing a Tesoro Tejon in the next week or so. I have never been that much into metal detecting but have owned several detectors over the years. I now have a Tesoro Lobo which I think is still in working condition. It is my favorite of the ones I have owned, but I think the Tejon would more fit my needs now.

Questions: I understand the Lobo's coils will work on the Tejon. Correct or not?

I pretty well understand the differences between the coil that comes with the Tejon and the 5.75 I think it is, but would some of you compare the Tesoro WideScan Elliptical 10 inch I believe it is with those two. Types of soil, detections depth, and so on. I have one I bought for the Lobo which I think I never even used. Of couse, if the WideScan will not work on the Tejon, the question is moot.

I did it!!! I ordered the Tejon yesterday from that place in Boston. Should be here Friday evening (I live on the south end of Toledo Bend Reservoir in Texas).

From what I have read and from my experience years ago with the Lobo I know I am going to like it. Most all detectors are built for a specific purpose and are good, but for my "style" of detecting I think the Tejon will more than do the job.

Would some of you experienced Tejon users out there give me some pointers that will help speed me along the way?

Thank you.

Bert

Bert, for relic hunting, set the discrmination on the O in foil and the alternate knob just beyond nickel. Dig anything that consistently beeps on the alternate discrimination. Flat iron will give a good signal on both but you'll learn the difference in sound. Ground balance slightly positive and set the tone at the 3:00 position with sensitivity on 10 unless it chatters and then slightly lower. You'll love it!
HH!
