Will the 5X8 coil for the ATGOld work on the ATP? If it will, I will order one tommorrow.

I would say no, as the AT Pro is 7.8kHz, and the AT Gold is 18kHz...that is alomst 10kHz spread...
I may be wrong though...

Yes it will. Don't know if they have any for sell yet as they are still making them and trying to get the pros out.

The AT Pro is 15kHz not 7.8kHz and the coil off the AT Gold will work with the AT Pro or visa versa (the AT series coils will work on either detector). I got this information straight from Garrett by phone, they said the AT gold 5X8DD coils will be available for sale at there dealers soon.

The Pro runs at 15khz not 7.8. The coils on the gold and pro will work on both.

I am sorry...I DID misquote on the freqs...Why was I sure I read it was 7.8kHz...I like 15kHz better though....GOLD here I come!!!
15kHz to 18kHz should not be too big a difference....And if Garrett says they will work, it should...

What's the benifit of using the AT-Gold coil on AT-Pro? Not saying there is no benefit just wondering what the benefit is exactly?

The 5X8 is just enough smaller than the 8.5X11 to work well in trashy areas.
