NEED SOME INPUT FROM SOME OF YOU GUYS THAT HAVE HAD THE EX 2 FOR A WHILE. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMEND IF I WAS GOING TO BUY ANOTHER COIL. I HAVE THE STOCK 10 INCH AND A 5 INCH EXCELL.

From both of your post it sounds like you are detecting in some trash. In that case the X 8 of Sunray or the X 5 would be my choice of coils, had the Excellerator 5, but didnt like it like I do the X5 of Sunrays.
I run iron mask at a -14 and run ferrous tone if there is a lot of iron around, if not then I will run the conductivity, but in either case I listen for the high tones of copper or silver. If I am in ferrous tones than those rusty bottle caps will give a high tone too. I have been running digital and digging those high tones that are 25-30 and fogetting the 31 as it is iron I have found and 24 is pulltabs. Been finding older nickles at 6 and bouncing to 7 while a few new ones at 5.
If you were to buy only one coil I would recomend the X 8 of Sunrays as you have the 5 inch and the stock 10 inch, so this one would be in betweeen.

I agree with Rick. The SunRay Stealth X-8 is a super coil and very easy to pinpoint with. It gets superb depth. Try it, you'll like it...

Hey Ernie,
I would immediately get the 7.5" coil. I use the 7.5" minelab coil. I was instructed that this coil is excellent at separating trash and gets excellent depth as well. I have used this coil all of the time and have found that those guys who instructed me were correct. That coil can find a coin at 9 inches (my experience) in clean areas, but also can separate out trash very, very well.

What about the 5 X 10 inch Coiltek "JOEY" coil ?? It is SUPPOSED to reach as deep as the stock coil yet SHOULD be better in trash... at least on half of the 360 degree circle around the target. Is it really guys ? I do not know but would love to hear the opinions of some of you experts who may have compared the various "trash" coils available for the Explorer.

were I looking for another coil I would get an 8". Either a minelab or one from sunray. They both work great. Good hunting.
