Coils

Well you arent gaining the depth, its as light, doenst false as much, more sensitive to smaller targets, seperates in trash better, and can handle more sensitivity with less affects from EMI, and its a little better blanced. Also the foot print for a ROUND coil has to process more minerals and targets under the coil than a DD.... this will affect the TID since it averages those targets. The cone shape of the ROUND coil footprint reduces at depth meaning you may only be getting 3 inchs of detection at say 10". Which requires more overlap. The DD looses a couple inches on the front and back ... but for the most part you get the entire length of the coil at depth. This requires less overlap and covers more ground with less to process for better TID. Personally, i think the ROUND coil is affected a little more by EMI as well. But for pinpointing.... the ROUND coil does a little better job. Hows that for a couple of reasons...... oh and i just like the color better lol.

Dew----I believe he is referring to the 10.5" coil for the Explorers and it is DD also (as well as the 11" DD Pro coil).

My bad :surrender: Is he also asking about the 10.5 standard coil for the SE or the Explorer II? That might make a difference to some peoples response.

The SE when it first came out had a slimline.... which several didnt like, they were noisy, didnt seperate very well, and EMI seemed to affect them more. After the first year thou i believe they improved them. However, if you are talking about the standard that came with the Ex II, that those were selling for top dollar before the Pro came on the market. Excellent coil. An inch in this hobby is a LEAP. The pro coil hits harder on targets, seperates better, is as light as the slimline, and for a larger coil is as sensitive to small targets, also more sensitivity can be used with out the affect of EMI in most areas. These were really a big improvement when ML kind of took a step back with the slimline. BUT.... if yours hadnt came with a pro and you could get your hands on the Ex II coil you are still in the ball park by having an excellent coil. Trust me when i say if you want to sell that Pro and use the standard people will trip all over themselves to buy it from you. The Pro and the SEF have established themselves as and improvement....i think the finds tell the story.
