could anyone tell me the difference between the 5.3 eclipse and the 5 inch excelerator? im looking for a small coil to go along with the stock one and the 14 inch dd that i have. thanks in advance for the info

Rick,
Here is what I know:
The 5.3 eclipse is a concentric coil and is aprox. 6 1/2" in diameter
The 5" excelerator is a DD coil and is aprox. 5" in diameter
I own the 5" excelator coil and I am very satisfied with it. It does a good job of trash separation and is extremely easy to pinpoint. Like you, I have the 1400 DD coil and I feel that the 5" coil is a very complementary coil to have for hunting.

For example, I have the stock 950 with my MXT, but it doesn't get used. Most of the sites I tend to hunt have an ample amount of trash, building rubble, brush, or a combination of these three. Therefore I prefer a smaller-than-stock coil on almost all my detectors for most applications.
As 'txbluesman' stated, there is a difference of about 1
