I am buying the Explorer within the next week or two because of the Christmas special. Since it comes with the 10.5" and an 8" coil I was wondering what size coil would be best for coinhunting? I know the 8" covers less ground but wouldn't it be more sensitive to smaller, coin sized objects?

It works great in the trashy areas. i have both coils also and when i first got mine i stuck the 10 on and used it for a day and then i stuck the 8 on. I havent used the 10 since. the 8 is a lot lighter and easier to control plus it does a great job. ya might loose a little depth but ive been finding coins plenty deep with it. HH

If you are mail ordering from Kellyco I think the are selling the EXcelerator 5 inch coil for under $30 when you buy an Explorer. I just paid a $119 for mine and thats what they told me. It has done a fine job for me in the trash.
