I know they are all not interchangable, right? But I would think some are. Where can I go to find out, garrett site made? I looked and couldn't find any info on what coils fit what MDs.

Call Customer Service at Garrett and speak with Melinda Harper 1-800-527-4011 she will help you with any questions.

Contacting Garrett's is a good idea, but looking at the owners manual of the particular machine will tell you which search coils can be used with it. They are NOT all interchangable. Different machines have different connectors, so the plugs won't fit.

Here is a of link to a website that has owners manuals viewable online for currently sold metal detectors and older detectors as well.

Hope this helps you out. Happy Hunting!:)

Tks for the info guys. I got a reply from Melinda. She said they don't make coils for my UW MD anymore, they can't get the connection parts. And they didn't have any old coils for my XL500TR. She did say one place that might have them, a dealer in Gilmer Texas. I did look at the manual and it looks like only 2 where made to work with it, the 8" co-axial and a 7.5 co planar. I must have the co-planar, what ever the differance is between the 2 I have no idea...So it looks like I am SOL in finding a bigger(10-12") coil. I don't have allot of trash where I use it so I thought a bigger coil would work.
