Coils for xl pro

New member
Hello,
I am toying with the idea of getting one of these detectors in the near future. Are all the coils still available for them if I wear them out? I looked on the White's site and the only 8" coil available seemed to be for the prizm. I note the top choices for coils in previous posts seem to be the 9.5", 8", and the 5.6". Any other recommendations?

Than you.
Best Regards,
Steve

I like the 5.3" coil size myself. Target separation, decent depth, average sweep size. This seems to be a good balance. When I want to go bigger I like the 8 " size. The stock 950 is too big for my area. I guess most people use it on the beach. When I want to go smaller the 350 snooper coil fits the need. The Big Foot coil is an option. But there is a learning curve with this coil. So if I had to go with only two choices the 5.3 & 8 inch would be it. I use a coil cover on all my coils just to protect my investment. Some people say that coil covers are a waste of money. I know on resale that no scratches advertised goes a long way. But as far as wearing out a coil. That would take a whole bunch of time and effort. Or down right abuse.

As you said, the three best coils for the XL Pro are the 950, the 8", and the 5.3. That should cover about 99.99% of your hunting. Out of those three my personal favorite is the 8" Royal 800. It is just about ideal for searching old yards and parks (what I do mostly). The 5.3 comes out whenever I'm in a super trashy site, and the 950 for open area searching with few targets (like farm fields & pastures or very large parks).

I use the 8" on my XL Pro probably 70% of the time, the 5.3 20%, and the 950 10%. I like the 5.3 but it is too painstakingly slow unless the site is real trashy. Get yourself an 8". The perfect all-around coil for this machine imho.

The 950, like I used last week when you two were down, used to be on my 'icky' list because I just didn't like the looks and because it didn't do a lot for me over the 8" coils. I have preferred the thin-profile 8" coils to the older-style 950 until this past couple of months when, using the 950 on the 6000 Pro XL in field comparisons with a Vision and MXT, I've put in a lot of time with it. Now, I like it. :) Never thought I would say that.

I have enjoyed the 6

Hello Monte,
Thanks a lot for the concise wrap up on the xl pro detector coils. Helped a lot! We went out once since we had that great day with you and found an excellent coin site. No silver yet, but we are busy cleaning out the clad and the tabs. I will PM you tonight. Let us know how you do on the parking strip! Thanks again for your commentary!

Best regards,
Steve
