coils for the mxt:twodetecting:

I have a 6x8 S.E.F. coil from Kellyco on my MXT and I really like it. It is a lot more stable and faster in response. I primarily beach hunt with a Excal II but do use my Mxt on dry sand and in the trashy areas because of the speed of the MXT. I am not sure if you were asking if someone has both coils and the difference between the two? I am thinking about having the 10x12 put on my old Excal if that tells you anything. Hope this helps...The 10x12 would be just as great only bigger and deeper. I will say that with the 6x8 on the MXT it is a lot lighter. I always say it is like swinging a broom stick without the broom, so I should say it is like swinging a stick.

Hi - am running the S.E.F 10 x 12 on my mxt with no problems - it's very stable which is a good thing as I usually run in Relic mode with the gain +2 or +3 - trigger forward with no discrim - noisey but I can live with it.
The only down side is pinpoint - pulling the trigger or Xing the target is fine if its a smallish target in the top couple of inches or so - but once the target is over coin size (1") and deep then it could be anywhere under the coil -

Is pinpointing an issue with coin size objects at variable depths with the 10X12 SEF? What area of the physical coil is denotes a pinpoint? I thought I read somewhere that it was forward of the rod mount.

I don't use the MXT but I have had the 10X12 on my DFX and V3i and both pinpoint very well with no problems. If you can't get a good pinpoint, try lifting the coil off of the ground a little bit. The sweet spot is right in front of the rod mount.

i have used both coils and really like them. i have had no problems pinpointing with the 10x12,i usually relic hunt and have dug civil war bullets at 10-12" using the 10x12 and the pinpointing was spot on.
