Coils for the CZ-3D

WV62

Well-known member
Just wondering if the CZ-3D uses a different coil than the CZ-5's or the same. I made a trade with 88Junior, good guy to deal with and the detector will be here today. I will most likely be looking for a good deal on a little 5" coil once I get the hang of this new to me detector.

Yeah, same coil. Some have different length cables, but all work the same for CZs excepting some CZ-6s and the waterproof ones. My 5 went South and I am looking for another as well as a 10.5.
Just sayin

Tom,

Thanks for the info, now if I could get the mail man to run and get that CZ settle into its new home.

Thanks for kind words WV62 the CZ3D uses the same coils as the Cz5 but I can tell you this the 8" coil is by far one of the most used coils for the CZ'S it's almost as deep as the
10 1/2" coil and it works pretty good in trash. A lot of people uses the 5" and they say the depth on them is as good as the 8" but the target seperation is awesome in junky areas.
Joe Dirt on this forum and DanPa on here are pretty knowledgable they have helped me out several times on things that had me stumped. Welcome to the CZ forum!! I believe you will be very happy with the CZ3d!! Their great for finding deep and older coins. Look for Bill S videos on this forum using the cz3d it will get your heart a pumping watching them!!

Ron, You are gonna love your CZ....They are awesome coin machines. I use a CZ5 which is what the 3D is based on and love that detector. You will want to pick up the 5 inch coil for parks and the trashy areas you hunt. It is deep and really cuts through the trash for the goodies.
Right now I'm running the 10 1/2" coil because I'm hunting farm fields and bigger open areas with little trash, but when I'm in an old park the 5 inch coil is my choice. Can't remember the last time the 8 inch coil was used really. One thing about the large coil is it is very good at picking up coins on edge...
found several old coins deep on edge. I have found some deep coins on edge will give an iron tone, then hit high tone and back to iron again as I sweep over them.... shorten your sweep up and try to get the high tone to repeat, and if it does you might have a deep dime on edge.
I never take my detector off zero disc...I wanna hear the iron that might fool me. You will still dig a few old nails but once you get familiar with the detector you will dig much less rusty junk. If it hits from 2 directions it is usually a coin or good target.
I'm not sure I agree with running sensitivity at 3 or 4.....it may be all you need, but I usually run at 7 sensitivity with no problems at all and get great depth with no falsing. I prefer my volume cranked up to 10 where all targets are loud hits....if it beeps it gets dug. These are my preferences and might not be the correct way to run the detector but it works for me. The analog CZ's are among some of the best detectors ever made by any company and will still hang with the big boys today............HH

Want to point out a CZ3D is a different animal than the conventional CZ and 4.8 is usually the top sens while keeping a stable unit whereas I know I can run my CZ6A at 8 and above and still keep a stable unit but most conventional CZ's 6 or so is tops for sens. Have to agree no right or wrong way to setup and whatever works as I also like volume maxed out and many prefer a setting of 5 or under and audio is then modulated. All in all thanks for your knowlegable contributions to the forum but indeed although similiar a CZ3D is just a different animal and speaking from experience as used every model CZ ever made.
Indeed if a target don't repeat from at least two different angles its usually junk and once you cut a plug the pinpoint seems to move 9 out of 10 times its a nail on the side of the hole.
I personally prefer the stock 8 coil but having the 10.5 and 5 as acc. coils makes its a 3 sided sword.....capable of handling all conditions...
In addendum forum members google Mikes CZ page as its a CZ owners bible.....

Rager and Dan,

I copied and saved both of your post, some pretty good info. I did have a CZ5 back in 2010, but I thought I needed something better so like a dummy I let it go.

A 5" coil located me needing a good home, so I made the deal and it should be on its way pretty soon.

Dan-Pa, Thanks for setting me straight on the differences between the 3D and the other CZ's. I have never used the 3D but assumed it operated as the others. I consider your posts gospel when it comes to anything concerning CZ's and certainly appreciate your expertise you share with the forum.

Ron, Expect many good finds with your 3D....I don't think there is a better coin hunter out there as the CZ's. You will be amazed how deep that little 5 inch coil goes. Good luck with your new detector.......
