Coils for the ACE 359

CHRIS OC

Member
Has any one tried the excellerator or any other coils for the 350 , was just wondering if they made much of a difference compared to the stock dd coil ?

I got the sniper coil and I rarely take it off. I love that little thing. Keep it low and slow and ur findings will increase so micch. Sniper is great on the 350

Any coil made for the ace 150 or ace 250 will work on the 350. I have a 10x14 excelerator DD coil that I use on the 350. It does cover more ground than the factory coil, but I honestly see no difference in depth. The sniper coil is a real asset if you hunt trashy locations.

If I remember right, the Ace coils will have the Ace logo, and the AT coils will have AT on them...

HH,

Yes, the 250 coilos will work but only at the 6.5khz they were designed at. Not the 8.2 khz the 350 works at.

That's what I thought too. But it seams others have been using the 250 coils on the 350 as well. Can anyone at Garrett weight in on this ? I know my Gamma 6000 could use a Gold Bug DD and it was great and that was a different frequency ( farther off in range ) but know one not even the dealers could tell me why and it was a bigger split than the difference between the 250 and 350. I like the larger coil on the 350 and the sniper is great, I don't need three coils but I'd like to have someone who knows clear this up.............................Happy Trails, Woodstock

No expert here but Kellyco list's their Ace series coils to work on the Ace 150, 250, and 350. Same coil and same part#. HH

Well then they must be interchangeable and the only difference would be the decals like the Greek Series from Teknetics cause the 5" x10" DD from the Gold Bug works the same as the 5" x 10" Tek coil only the labels make them different. The Garrett Ace 350 still out does the Ace 250 or at least mine does. I don't have a 250 anymore but a acquaintance let me put the stock 350 coil on their 250 and I feel the 350 handled it better although some say they see no difference. And I like the "Bell Tone" and have for years ... if they added more tones and a numerical ID they'd be like all the rest. Out of the many detectors I've owned the Ace 250 and 350 are the best for what they cost they can keep up as well as any more expensive units.
They could make a "New" a Ace and if they did all it would have is new bells and whistles. Call it the 450 and add 3 tones and maybe a numerical ID and back light ... and make them $449 and they would have another winner but the depth wouldn't change ... it's deep enough already. IMHO, Woodstock

There is no problem in using 250 coils on the 350 but just remember the 250 coils
were designed to operate at 6.5. BUT you can still use them.

Like I said before, there is a larger gap between the Tek Greek series and the Fisher Gold Bug and they interchange too. And even IF they were designed for the 6.5 Ace 250 as long as there is no difference in detection then they can be interchanged with no performance issues in the field then it's your choice. I think this kind of thing with different frequency coils working with other models happens with other manufactures as well. I believe Whites even has coils that work on other models they have with different frequency's ... it must depend on the plug wiring and the circuit boards being compatible ... the bottom line is "use it if it works and your machine doesn't start to smoke !"... IMHO ~ Woodstock
