coils for MXT

Hello
Im new here and have had the MXT for a little over a week. I can already say I love this Detector. I have found 5 wheat pennies and 10 dollars in clad, not bad for my first week. I do need help in getting the 2nd coil. I have the coupon for $200 off and from what I've seen the 6x10 or the 5.3 coil is what I need. Your opinions on these or another coil would be appreciated. i use the 6x10 on my mxt. just remember its a DD coil and pinpoints of the tip.

I use the 6X10 also. In fact, I use it nearly all the time. However, maybe if I am searching an open large field, then I would probably use the stock coil, but that is very infrequent.

Hi Steve,
I have not tried the 6 X 10 but the other two comments think quite highly of it. I have the 4 X 6, 5, 5.3, 8 and stock coil. I use the 5.3 pretty much exclusively. I live in Western NC and one small park has yielded me just over $40 in less than 5 weeks along with some decent silver. Not to say that another coil wouldn't have found it but the 5.3 just works so good. Good luck and welcome to the world of the MXT.

Thanks for the input on these coils. Thanks bigjohn for the info on pinpointing with the DD coils, didnt know that. I think both 6x10 and 5.3 will be good in the right places. I will probably get both. Buy one now and save up for the other coil. I am for sure going to get the mxt edge book. Tom I also live in western NC, in the foothills. Steve

It is a great search coil and has replaced the 9.5 coil on my wifes and my MXT's. You will like it a lot. Congrats on your finds and good luck.
