Landstar,505,Timeranger, 3300. I'm trying to make a decision on what entry level detector to buy. This will be my first. Can someone tell me if the bounty hunter coils being sold by Kellyco will work well with all these models. Thanks for the input. Also, I'm new to this forum and I did try to use the search feature but it was taking forever to spit out a result. Is this normal or is it down right now?
As far as I know the BH 10" and 4" coils will work on those detectors.
If you can swing it (no pun intended) you might want to consider the BH Platinum. It doesn't use the same coils as the others but it is Bounty Hunter's top of the line detector. It has a huge display and is easy to operate, very light, and in my experience goes at least as deep as the Time Ranger. It uses only 1 9V battery. It is very similar to the Teknetics Gamma 6000.
I have a Pioneer 505 and added to it the 4" coil for trashed out areas and to detect closer to metal sheds or fence posts for example. Have always thought of acquiring a 10" coil but am content with having the standard and the 4" coils for now. As trashed out as many camp areas have gotten around here, the rocks and brush, and that most things are not much of 3-4 inch deep, it's been pretty hard for me to justify and or fight with a 10" coil. I live in some of the roughest and steepest country in Idaho. I suppose a 10" would be ideal for what few sandy river beaches we have.
Too bad BH has not produced some elliptical DD coil options for my machine and the others but maybe some day. It would not surprise me that BH is losing some machine sales over the lack of Coil options that are available with other Brands. They are great machines and their performance can amazingly equal or sometimes exceed Brands of much higher costs but I often think of the possibilities if they were to have more coil options.
Welcome to the BH Board, I think it one of the best, Robert
Thank you all for the help. I did call first Texas and a customer service tech told me that no fisher coil would work on the bounty Hunters. I will take your word for it though , Delaware. Thanks again.
Salmonriver, I hope you find some gold out there soon I lived in Coeur d'Alene for awhile. Beautiful country. What's your soil conditions like out there?
