Coils cover...are they worth it and why?

The coil cover will protect the bottom side of the coil from getting scratched up, keep it from wearing a hole in the coil so water can get in and ruin it, plus if you do hit some sharp object you may ruin the cover, but saved the coil. The draw back is that they have to be taken off and cleaned at times as water and dirt can get between the cover and the coil causing some erratic signals.
One other thing is if you ever decide to upgrade and sell the detector or coil all you have to do is put on a new cover and it will look like new again, if you didnt have a cover and the coil is all scratched up it could turn off the buyer and he wont buy it.
