Coils Coming Loose From Housing

Steve in Idaho

New member
Minelab has replaced two 10 1/2 " coils for me because the coil inside of the coil housing came loose. When the coil was tipped from side to side, you could hear the coil insides slipping back and forth. The first one shorted out and took out the main circuit board in the control box. The other coil was loose and I sent it in to be repaired before it caused any damage to the control box electronics. Minelab replaced both coils at no charge to me. Their service is great. I am care full not to bang the coil on hard objects when I swing the coil. I also do not submerge the coil in water. It does get wet in wet grass sometimes. Has any one had any problems with the larger coils ? I use the 10 1/2" coils most of the time.

So far I guess I have lucked out. Have put hundreds of hours on 10.5 coils and banged um pretty hard against rocks and sage and cedros. I guess I better watch my swing from now on:huh:

Hey good luck diggin that ORO this spring.

No problems here, but I havent had mine too long. But I got it used and it was used at least 10 to 20 hours with no problems noted. But I guess it will be something for me to watch out for. And for me to be careful about knocking it around.

Happy hunting
