People who don't know the real story often blame the new Fisher for the disasters of the old one. In some cases they may have bought a unit after we brought the carcass back to life, but the stock they bought may have been sitting in the dealership for years. Or in a few cases, old inventory that came from the LB Fisher which was shipped by the new Fisher.
For many years, the old Fisher had a reputation for quality product. In the late 1990's (Roger Cimino Era) everything went to hell and sales started taking a nosedive. People who weren't industry insiders didn't know that what was being shipped no longer matched the reputation. When we bought the carcass it took us about a year to discover and fix the many problems we didn't know about at the time we bought the carcass.
In the case of the Dimitar machines (Excel, Edge, Coinstrike) we quickly figured out that these were products that needed to die. We shipped only from legacy LB inventory and that was the end of them.
Time to put in a plug for Steve Herschbach, at that time a big Gold Bug 2 dealer. We assumed that it was the same product it was in 1995, and were wrong about that. Steve gave us hell (nothing personal, just business), but at the same time realized that if there were problems we really did want to know about them and would do our best to fix them. He proved to be an invaluable resource for helping us get the GB2 back in shape. Here we are 20 years later and selling more GB2's than the old Fisher ever did.
