Coil wire Question ?

Hello everyone i own a fisher ID EXCEL with the 8 Inch coil but recently found the coil wire casing is all coming apart is there a fix for this ? and is it do too age or material down? It is in sad shape as far as the casing goes :(

It is a material problem, I had one to do that as well and the only fix I could come up with was to tape it and use it, but stay out of the water. Later I bought another one to replace it. I don't think that all are that way, seems they must have made a change at some time.

I have the ID Edge and my brand new never used 10 " coil
is doing the same. Have heard many times of people having
this problem. Fisher has gone to you know what these days.
Will never buy another one of their machines as there's just
a lot more better units out there for the MONEY! Will keep
my 1021 CZ3D Los Banos) though and my ID Edge as they are good
machines that can find the goods...

No fix I know of. Fisher ought to replace all these coil shredding problems for free for selling JUNK!!!
Fisher fell fast right near the end of the Los Banos days. Won't be giving them my DOUGH anymore.
Waayyyyyy better out there.

Thank you guys for the advice i will tape it and just use it  and your right on silverseeker 2 i wont ever buy another fisher since my Makro Racer Purchase way better lol

I would say that the coil wires in question are from the older detector days (Los Banos days) not the newer FT days. The coil that I had a problem with was off a 1270 which was made by FT right when they took over Fisher. The manual still had the old address with a sticker over it.

Maybe there isn't anything wrong with the wires, at the time I had my first 1270 I was using a Ozone air freshener in my house and it destroyed just about everything rubber in my house. Belts in my VCR were going out in a matter of weeks, the elastic in our clothing all gave up.

Maybe Fisher didn't have a problem, maybe it was something we done.

We will never know, but I am still using Fisher machines.

People who don't know the real story often blame the new Fisher for the disasters of the old one. In some cases they may have bought a unit after we brought the carcass back to life, but the stock they bought may have been sitting in the dealership for years. Or in a few cases, old inventory that came from the LB Fisher which was shipped by the new Fisher.

For many years, the old Fisher had a reputation for quality product. In the late 1990's (Roger Cimino Era) everything went to hell and sales started taking a nosedive. People who weren't industry insiders didn't know that what was being shipped no longer matched the reputation. When we bought the carcass it took us about a year to discover and fix the many problems we didn't know about at the time we bought the carcass.

In the case of the Dimitar machines (Excel, Edge, Coinstrike) we quickly figured out that these were products that needed to die. We shipped only from legacy LB inventory and that was the end of them.

Time to put in a plug for Steve Herschbach, at that time a big Gold Bug 2 dealer. We assumed that it was the same product it was in 1995, and were wrong about that. Steve gave us hell (nothing personal, just business), but at the same time realized that if there were problems we really did want to know about them and would do our best to fix them. He proved to be an invaluable resource for helping us get the GB2 back in shape. Here we are 20 years later and selling more GB2's than the old Fisher ever did.
