Coil Weights????

tabman

Active member
For some reason the coil manufacturing companies don't want buyers to know the weight of their coils. I guess it would cut down on their sales some. I'm not buying any new coil until I know the weight first. Period :)

If you know the weights for any of the coils that fit the M6, please let me know.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe this is the one and only thing that Monte doesn't know.:)

I'm mainly interested in all the small light weight coils that fit the M6.

Careful Tab, he might just surprise you! He is a very knowledgable and helpful fellow and quite the expert in my opinion so if he see's this you might get what you asked for and then some! How are you liking that M6? I have one on the way myself and hear some very good things, some from Monte himself.

My M6 is on the way as well. From what I've read, it seems like a very good detector. Yes, Monte is super knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to detectors.

I think I will just do that and post the weights if they give them to me. As little as 3 ounces of extra weight makes a huge difference on the end of a long rod after just a few hours of swinging it around.

the smallest, the Eclipse 5.3 or 4X6 'shooter'.

Thanks Hombre. I thought that would be the case.

I need the weights of:

4 x 6 DD, 5.3 Concentric, 6 x 10 DD, and 9.5 Concentric Eclipse coils

4.5 x 7 DD, 5 DD, and 6 DD EXcelerator coils

It sure would be helpful if all the coil manufacturers and retailers posted the weights of their coils. Coil weight is a big deal and is important to know.

I wonder how many sponsors could tell you the weight of the coils that they sell?

I wouldn't be making my decision on a few ounces. It would be on the performance. Except on the bigger coils it shouldn't be an issue.

I just got this email from Steve Howard. I need to check back with him and to see if these weights are with or without coil covers.

The M6 uses all the V3 type search coils;

801-3240 - 5.3 (six inch) $149.95, best for trashy private property residential yards. (13 oz)
801-3241 - 6X10 (elliptical

What I found odd about Tab's last message is that Whites official website list's the 10DD at 17.9 ozs. HH

Maybe that is the weight without coil cover or coil by itself and no cable??

Let's consider two things with regard to the M6: First, I think the M6 is one of the best-performing, best-value coin hunting detectors in White's current line-up, and one of the best against most of the competition as well.

Second, I wish White's would offer the M6, a dedicated Coin Hunting detector, with the 6

Monte thanks for the info.

I got my M6 delivered to day. I can see why so many people who have tried the M6, really like it. It's awesome!

I'm going to have to get the 5.3 Eclipse coil, because the stock coil is just a tad too heavy for my arm. Especially since I'm having to use my left arm now.

I weighed the stock coil with and without the coil cover. The coil cover weighs 3.4 ounces. The M6 feels much better swinging it without the coil cover than it does with it.

Another 3 ounces in less weight and a better balance point of the 5.3 Eclipse should be about right.:)

9.5 Coil without coil cover - 1lb 0.6oz

9.5 coil with cover - 1lb. 3.9oz.

Dont forget about the SEF 6x8 DD coil. One of my favorites in tight trashy spots. I also use the Eclipse 5.3 and the Eclipse 6x10. HH. Matt

Not heavy at all. I can go for 6 hours or longer IF I use my arm strap, but then my belly gets hungry. If I dont use the strap I can maybe get a couple hours before my arm tires out. I use an XLt and 950 coil. When I had my DFX i had all the coils even the 14 inch and I could go just as long.
