Coil suggestions.

Eric from NC

New member
My 12 year old son has finally decided he would like to go with his old man and detect. I was going to buy him a detector but I have a Mayan for him to use before, to see if he likes it. I would like to get a new coil for it because the coil is so small. any suggestions.
thanks for the help
Eric

Well, you didn't say how small the coil was. If I remember the Mayan, it came with a 7" coil, which is a great coin coil. Your son will do better w/this coil if he is taught to keep the coil level and just brush the grasstop.

thanks for the help. The coil is cracked and was afraid to let him use it, but the detector is mint. I could use epoxy on it and fill the cracks like I did on my other detector. He is quite excited.
Thanks for the help!

I'm not familiar with the Mayan, but if it has the 7" coil as Slingshot thinks, then I'd use it if it works. I use the 7" a lot on my Silver Sabre umax and Deleon. As he said, "It's a great coin coil."
