Coil Selection Question

I just changed out my stock coil as it was getting kind of flaky. I picked up both an X-12 and a 6x8 SEF, and with the exception of a short trip to local park, this is the first time out with either coil.

Tomorrow we're going to a lot that used to have a very old general store on it, but is now just vacant. I don't really know the ground conditions yet, but it's off a busy street and sometimes has vendors (fruit/vegetables) on it.

Any opinions on what would be the better coil to start off with? I'm thinking the 6x8, but it won't cover as much area as fast as the X-12. Is the X-12 better to use once the site is cleaned up a little?

I'm waiting on delivery of a second upper and lower shaft, because I hate changing the coils out in the field, so until then, I'd rather try to start with the more effective coil. I already have the SEF on.

Thanks!

John

Use the 6X8 as there will more than likely be a lot of trash in that area. The X-12 is for more open areas that won't have a lot of trash. The 6X8 won't cover as fast but will pick the good stuff out of all that there trash!

That's what I thought - thanks! I had good luck with it the other day trying out a local park for about 90 min. Got 20 pennies, 3 quarters, 3 dimes, a wheatie and a Kennedy half. I guess I'll save the X-12 for a field or if I ever get to the beach.

Thanks!
