Coil selection help

archer

Member
It was 70+ on Friday and now its snowing so no hunt today.:sadwalk:

I got a kitchen pass to buy another coil and would like some input from everyone. I am in central Arizona. Pretty mineralized soil i believe. When I GB it runs from about 12 to 18 normally. Not the oldest area, with activity dating back to the late 19 century. There is a lot of old metal and new trash. I am thinking about getting a 6" coil - but which one? I currently own the low and medium 9" concentric coils and the 10x5 high freq coil. What coil will help me sort out these trashy sites the best?

6 inch DD HF.

Archer, I'm also in Arizona and ordered a 6" DD coil last week. It has not got here yet. I got permission to hunt an older property that show some promise. I went at it with the stock coil and found junk everywhere. I couldn't hardly even ground balance because I was having a hard time finding a piece of clear ground. I only hunted for an hour and found several coins and a broach with diamonds (most likely fake). I'll let you know how the 6" DD works when I get it. It should make it far easier to get thru the trash and down to the goodies that I know are deeper.

Good hunting, John K
