Coil repair question...

My coil died... looks like it's a bad connection at the coil itself.

Can it be repaired? It's out of warranty and I'm wondering how much that would cost if it is repairable (vs. getting a new coil)

If I do get a new coil, which one? I primarily hunt the beach / shallow surf but I also hit the parks / playgrounds. I'd need something to cover all conditions... Stock coil, Joey, platypus? Anything else to consider? I don't know about a WOT though, maybe too much for some of the trashy parks?

THe coil connestion can be fixed quite easily. Ive fixed mine twice now, I just used a pencel solder gun from Radio Shack and it works great. They are very small wires so it is very hard to work with.
Currently, i am using the Patypus coil. At first i didnt like it for the depth but it seemed to lock on better that the standard coil. Now that i have used it for a while, i am very satisfied with the depth.

I certainly do appreciate the offer. Very nice of you! However, I decided it best to send it all back to Minelab. I figured they should check out the entire thing just in case the coil failure did something to the control. On top of that, I really wanted them to check the connection at the control box. I've got a feeling there's something wrong there too.

BTW, in case you didn't see my post about it, I went back out with the CZ-20 the same day I lost the ExpII and found a nice lookin' ring. Good news is that it fits me and it's 14K (6.5 pw) but unfortunately, the 20 "diamonds" are CZ's (2 missing) and the sapphire in the middle is synthetic.

My day went downhill from there though... 1/2 hour after finding this, I hit a big shallow target... a piece of iron. Don't know what happened, but the overload must have fried something... So, I lost 2 machines in one day. I figure it's a sign from God to give it a rest for a while At least it's a better sign than lightening.

Thanks again for the offer. Maybe one day I can get down there and meet you and you can show me how it's done!
