Coil Question!

Joe Kononchik

New member
I am looking at the Kellyco excal. 4.5x7 coil and the white's 5.3 for my M6. Is the 4.5x7 coil a 2d or concentric coil? I tested the 6x10 coil and it overlads on max Sensiitvy. Do these coils also overload on max sens.? Thank you,Joe

Good question. MIne overloads on larger shallow targets. I raise the coil to see if I want to dig them and most are large iron (iron relic). It might overload on shallow a shallow quarter/half dollar.

I've only noticed more chattery at max sensitivity. I don't know what you mean it overloads without a target.

I do know what you mean and IMHO it is not normal. Worth a call to Whites. The 4X6 on My Prizm 6T does this off and on and I have to reduce the sensitivity a bit to operate. Not a problem with the other coils for it and I've never had it happen on my MXT with any coil unless close to a target that causes the overload.

Additional thought to above - if you have a cover on the coil, remove it and check to see if any mineralized sand or other material has gotten trapped in it. Clean it and see if the problem disappears.

Great afterthought BB. I do away with the covers as soon as I get a new coil so I forget about keeping them clean inside but that is VERY important. Dirt and moisture in the cover will mess with your sensitivity and VDI's.

My coils (have the 950 and 3x9 jimmy sierra hotfoot) wont overload unless there is metal under them, sounds like there may be a prob with that coil.
