I was wondering if it was worth while to buy a Garrett 7x10 Pro-formance coil, the one that is now standard on the GTAx550....
Mine came with the 8.5 Crossfire II....
Waste of money?...or worth the money??
(Also debating about picking up the 12.5 Crossfire II)

I can`t say about the 7x10 but a larger coil can be nice. I have both the 12.5 and the 10x14DD coils. I use the DD a lot and it works well for more mineralized soil. If you have big areas to cover that are not high trash areas ,then a larger coil is great. You get a little more depth too.
 
The 7x10 is a better performer, covers more ground, easier to pinpoint with. The 12.5 will really cover some ground and will get you a couple of more inches in depth.
