coil question

Hey all, well I was wondering what you make of this. I didnt think anything of it when I first got the detector, but think it may actualy be an issue. And well it kinda bothers me come to think of it. The resin type material that makes up the bottom of my coil is very uneven, like it wasnt flat when it was put in over the internals. I have had some ground ballance problems, and one day my detector gave me a coil error message. I would just like to know what you think, and what you would do ? I would like to exchange it with minelab, but cant stand not hving a detector since I have only the one. Hope to hear from ya, and thanks. L8R

It sounds like it might be worth contacting the dealer you bought the coil from or Minelab direct, as it sounds like a poorly made coil. The coils I've see have all been dead smooth on the bottom. Although having an uneven finish, shouldn't affect the coils performance as such, the fact that it has an irregular bottom indicates that it was badly made. I don't think that you will have any problems getting it replaced. Do mention that you have had a coil error come up on the screen.
Good luck with it. I'm sure that they will look after you well. I have on the occasions that I've sort after sale help.

I agree with Mick. Your detector was telling you something when it sent the "coil error" message, the other factors you mention could support that message.
