Coil question on GTI 2500

I heard that the Ace 250 4.5 Sniper Coil will work on the GTI 2500. Was wondering if any of you 2500 users have tried it. I have all three coils for the Ace 250. It could save me some bucks if they will interchange.

I don't know for sure.I would check with Mary a Garrett before you fry something.

I called Garrett and talked with a tech today. He says the Ace 250 Sniper coil won't interchange with the GTI 2500. The Ace Sniper is a five pin plug and the 2500 is a seven pin. Also even if you changed plugs and rewired the 2500 with its eight freq's the 2500 can't be tuned to a true 6.5 mhz that the Sniper coil operates on. Which basically means that you might see smoke if you try it. Bottom line is experimenting is just to be done with low dollar detectors, not the 2500. Can't see frying a high dollar machine just to save a few $$ on a coil. Oh well, I was just thinkin (thats dangerous sometimes).
